Everyone who wants to know God may pray. (1 John 4:15)
Everyone who has sinned and wants forgiveness may pray. (Romans 8:1,2; 1 John 1:9)
How to Pray: Praying is simply talking with God.
God is a person and we relate to Him as a person. Therefore, we speak to Him as a person. God\'s children have immediate access to God anytime, anywhere, and about anything. (1 John 5:1; Hebrews 4:16)
To enter into a relationship with God, we must acknowledge our need for forgiveness of our sins and believe God by trusting Him to give us eternal life through Jesus Christ. (1 John 5:10-14; Hebrews 11:6)
Try this outline for your prayer time:
[ul]Worship, praise, and thanksgiving to God for who He is, for His wonderful attributes, and for all He has done. (Psalms 95:6-7; Psalms 9:1-2; Psalms 95:2)
Pray for His will and purposes in your life, in your nation and the world. (Psalms 40:8; Psalms 143:10)
Talk with your Father about your own needs and the needs of others. (Matthew 7:7)
Ask God to forgive your personal sins. Consider those who have offended you or hurt you and forgive them. (Colossians 3:13)
Pray about your temptations and ask to be led away from them and from all evil. (1 Corinthians 10:13; 2 Thessalonians 3:3)
Pray about everything, worry about nothing. (Philippians 4:6-7; 1 Peter 5:7)
Rejoice that God is sovereign, all powerful, and all glorious. (Psalms 105:3; Psalms 118:24; Romans 12:12; Philippians 3:1; Philippians 4:4; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)[/ul] |
